UE women’s soccer goal keepers stand the test early

Evansville, Ind. (WEHT) — In the early games of the University of Evansville women's soccer season, the active goalkeepers have shown they are dependable in the net. Hawaii transfer Bri Chirpich, who made the first start against Purdue, recorded nine saves on 31 shots faced, resulting in a 1-1 tie. When Chirpich was out with an injury last week, sophomore Emma Nathans took her place in UE's home opener against Southeast Missouri State.

Nathans finished with two saves on nine shots faced in a 2-0 shutout of the Redhawks. Head coach Chris Pfau expressed confidence in the team's defense, emphasizing that the goalkeepers will play a significant role. He noted that the players at the back must endure physical and mental challenges as the season progresses and the pressure to win intensifies.

Pfau was particular about Chirpich's performance in Purdue, describing it as one of the best he had seen in a long time. Emma Nathans also played a crucial role at home, keeping calm, using her feet effectively, and making crucial saves. Chirpich is expected to return for the upcoming game against Lindenwood on August 27th at 6 p.m.
