Transfer: Scholes names Man United star angry over Santos, Tielemans, Baleba arrival

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has expressed his belief that Kobbie Mainoo is superior to the new midfield signings the club made this summer. In an interview on The Good, The Bad, The Football podcast, Scholes criticized the acquisitions of Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Carlos Baleba. He stated, "They've just spent 90 million on two midfield players, another 60, 70 million on another player. He[Mainoo] is better than all three of them."

Scholes acknowledged that Mainoo's subdued demeanor might be a potential downside. However, he noted that while Mainoo wasn't at his peak last season, he still managed to make a significant impact towards the end of the campaign. He said, "That might be his problem, you know. Yeah. I'm pretty sure he will be angry inside. And have we not learned this lesson from the first half of last season when he didn't play, and they were terrible? I still don't think he was amazing when he came in. But he's better than what we've got."

Manchester United had spent £50 million to sign Andrey Santos and had activated the £35 million release clause to bring Tielemans from Aston Villa. They are also reportedly set to add Carlos Baleba to their ranks from Brighton & Hove Albion.
