Tommy Haas Siblings: All About Sabine and Karin Haas

Tommy Haas, a former professional tennis player from Germany, was born on April 3, 1978, in Hamburg. He is the son of Peter Haas, an Austrian-born former European judo champion and tennis coach, and Brigitte Haas, a German woman. Tommy began playing tennis at a young age, honing his skills with a wooden plank before training seriously under his father’s guidance.

At the age of 11, he relocated to Florida to train at the prestigious Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy. In 2010, Tommy became a dual German-American citizen while still representing Germany in international tennis competitions. Leaving his athletic career behind, Tommy Haas has since taken on various roles, including serving as the tournament director for the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells and engaging in business and philanthropic activities.

Tommy Haas has two sisters, Sabine and Karin, born on April 24, 1975, and June 16, 1979, respectively. Sabine is the older sibling and also had a competitive career in tennis. They both excelled at the German junior championships, which caught the attention of their coach, Nick Bollettieri. This led to their family moving to Florida so the siblings could train under his supervision.

Sabine reached a career-high ranking near 280 on the women’s tennis tour before retiring in the late 1990s. In a 1999 newspaper article, she reminisced about her brother's early self-belief, competitive spirit, and the sibling rivalry that helped him improve. Their father, Peter Haas, reportedly supported Tommy's ambitions more strongly than anyone else.

Karin Haas, the younger sister of Tommy Haas, was born on June 16, 1979. Like her older sister, Karin also had a competitive tennis career.
