The last few witnesses in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial are set to testify

Nearly a month of testimony has concluded in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial in Plymouth, Mass. The final witnesses to take the stand will provide crucial information for the jury, who have already heard arguments centered around Clancy's mental state during the alleged murder of her three young children.

A forensic psychologist hired by the prosecution is set to testify on Tuesday, evaluating Clancy's psychiatric history and assessing the defense's claim of acute postpartum psychosis at the time of the tragic incident. Kirk Heilbrun, the psychologist, testified that he believed Clancy killed her children to prevent them from suffering after she took her own life, but he did not accept Clancy's claim of hallucinating a voice instructing her to commit the murders.

Clancy's defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, will question Heilbrun regarding his conclusions during the questioning session. Following this, prosecutors are expected to call additional expert witnesses before the trial proceeds to closing arguments, which may occur as early as Wednesday.

In the lead-up to the children's murders, Clancy had sought treatment for mental health issues from various providers and even admitted herself to a psychiatric hospital in the months preceding the alleged crime.
