Alongside his frequent movie releases, he has gifted us with the British crime dramas The Gentlemen on Netflix, MobLand on Paramount+, and Young Sherlock on Prime Video. Ritchie, both the creator and executive producer of The Gentlemen, and the executive producer of MobLand, has treated these two shows as a pair since their release in 2025.

Both shows delve into the lives of British crime families, packed with violence and secrets aplenty. With The Gentlemen season 2 slated for release on September 3, season 3 has already secured an early renewal on Netflix, despite initial rumors about Meghan Markle's involvement. And if any troublesome events occur in the season finale, fans can rest assured that more episodes await.

However, this early renewal for The Gentlemen raises questions about the future of MobLand. Reports suggest that MobLand season 3 may already be in jeopardy, with Tom Hardy allegedly refusing to return due to "career suicide" behavior. A source told The Hollywood Reporter that Hardy's refusal to leave his trailer for hours at a time was a form of power play, while another source later clarified that Hardy was not fired, and the door was not closed for season 3.

Nonetheless, other projects now taking precedence in Ritchie's busy schedule have left me feeling uneasy.

Paramount+ may not want to lose a show with such high viewership, and Hardy's potential absence could be a factor. The streaming service is clearly not as confident in MobLand as Netflix is in The Gentlemen, but doubling down on its investment is the strongest sign of trust and conviction. Additionally, Ritchie believes a third season of The Gentlemen is "inevitable."

While the early renewal for The Gentlemen may have thrown Paramount+ off track, this does not necessarily mean MobLand season 3 is doomed. With season 2 consisting of 10 episodes, news about the third season could come by the time episode 8 is released. So, despite the concerns, MobLand season 3 is far from over.
