Thailand women’s volleyball team beat Kazakhstan 3-1

TIANJIN, China — In a thrilling match at the 2026 AVC Women’s Continental Championship, Thailand's women's volleyball team defeated Kazakhstan 3-1 on 25 August, securing their place in the quarter-finals and advancing their dreams of reaching the 2028 Olympic Games.

The Asian championship, hosted in Tianjin, saw Thailand power through their third Group B match against Kazakhstan. Ranked 17th in the world, Thailand had already secured their spot in the last eight with two consecutive wins and six points. Kazakhstan, on the other hand, had one win and one loss from their opening matches, accumulating three points and sitting second in the group.

Coached by Kiattipong “Coach Aot” Ratchatakriangkrai, Thailand made strategic decisions for the match. Middle blocker Thatdao Nuekjang was rested, while the starting lineup included Pornpun “Chompoo” Guedpard, Kaewkalaya “Thip” Kamulthala, Pimpichaya “Beam” Kokram, Chatchu-on “Bumbim” Moksri, Sasipaporn “Aomsin” Janthawisut, and Kanyarat “Bow” Khunmuang, with Kanyarat Khamwong taking the libero position.

Although Thailand briefly lost momentum in the third set, they swiftly recovered in the fourth set to claim a 3-1 victory. The match concluded with scores of 25-22, 25-16, 23-25, and 25-11 in favor of Thailand. This victory marked Thailand's third consecutive win, resulting in a perfect nine points and giving them the top spot in Group B. The result ensures Thailand's hopes of reaching the 2028 Olympics remain alive.
