Bhind district in Madhya Pradesh recently witnessed teachers risking their lives to reach their schools amidst the monsoon-induced floods. The teachers of Nadrauli Primary School braved the strong current on inner tubes to cross the Khar, a seasonal stream, in order to maintain their mandatory e-attendance. This dangerous commute becomes a yearly ordeal as the access route to the school is cut off due to the overflowing Khar, leaving teachers, students, and villagers with no other option.

The e-attendance system, while essential for maintaining a record of school presence, has exacerbated the hardship faced by teachers in rural areas. In another instance from Chhatarpur, government school teachers were forced to climb school rooftops to catch mobile network signals to mark their attendance through the 'Humare Shikshak' mobile application, highlighting the lack of adequate infrastructure in rural India.

The villagers raised concerns about the repeated occurrence of this issue every monsoon season and the continued absence of solutions such as permanent culverts or safe road access, questioning whether the challenges faced by rural communities were considered before enforcing stringent digital requirements.
