Sunway founder confirms Sunway Lagoon roller coaster incident [WATCH]

Sunway Group founder Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah has confirmed that an accident occurred at Sunway Lagoon's roller coaster on Saturday night. Cheah expressed regret over the incident, stating that no fatalities were reported. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, with Cheah suggesting possible metal fatigue as a contributing factor.

Police have ruled out foul play in the incident. The roller coaster had been temporarily closed for thorough inspection and maintenance work roughly two to three weeks prior to the incident. Ten people were injured in the accident, involving 22 riders ranging in age from 11 to 44, consisting of both Malaysians and foreign tourists.

Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat reported that ten riders sustained minor injuries. The incident gained attention through videos circulating on social media, showing a woman being carried down stairs on a stretcher and a crowd gathered near the amusement ride area.
