Sultan Nazrin calls for less political rivalry among Malaysia’s Muslim leaders

IPOH, Aug 25 — In his royal address at the Perak-level Maulidur Rasul celebration, Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah expressed concern over the growing political rivalry among Muslim leaders in Malaysia. He stated that differences in political views, religious beliefs, race, and personal interests were overshadowing the spirit of brotherhood, causing ukhuwah among Muslims to be neglected.

Sultan Nazrin urged Muslim leaders, Islamic organizations, and movements to avoid unnecessary disputes and minimize political rivalry, prioritizing initiatives that could strengthen the identity and progress of the ummah. He praised the positive efforts in Islamic education, such as Islamic economics, finance, the halal industry, waqf, digital dakwah, and strengthening family institutions.

Sultan Nazrin emphasized the need for wise approaches to balance modernization and Islamic principles, ensuring that progress and modernization do not erode Islamic identity.
