Sukkari dates accounted for over 70% of sales at the Al-Khubar and Riyadh Al-Khubar Date Festival market in August, driven by high demand and quality.
The Al-Khubar and Riyadh Al-Khubar Date Festival market saw Sukkari dates dominate sales in August, contributing over 70% of total sales, according to recent reports. This significant market share is largely due to the high demand and exceptional quality of Sukkari dates. The market has experienced a surge in interest from both shoppers and traders, who have been drawn to the variety and superior quality of the Sukkari crop.
Ibrahim Al-Sunaytan, the manager overseeing the date sales and auction area, revealed that current demand is predominantly focused on several Sukkari products, with the 'Galaxy' variety leading the pack. This particular type of Sukkari Rutab from Qassim is renowned for its firm texture and striking red color. Other favored varieties, including Sukkari Muftal, Nashif, and Rutab, also enjoy substantial consumer interest.
Al-Sunaytan emphasized that the market boasts a comprehensive selection of date types, with ample supply, and stable pricing has further encouraged increased buying and selling. Saleh Al-Abri, a prominent date vendor, reported receiving substantial orders since the market's opening in early August, with shipments dispatched to major cities such as Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Makkah, and Abha.
He praised this year's Sukkari harvest, describing it as exceptionally high quality. Beyond Sukkari, the market offers a diverse array of date varieties, such as Nawae, Wanana, Shaqra, Barhi, Khalas, Dukhaini, and Nabtat Salma, to accommodate various consumer preferences and meet local market demands.
