Solar Owners to Get Green Meters Faster

The Power Division has instructed power distribution firms and the Pakistan Information Technology Company (PITC) to expedite the resolution of pending net-metering cases. The review will concentrate on cases where consumers made their demand payments prior to February 9, 2026, and satisfied additional criteria, such as acquiring net-metering licenses, swapping or reprogramming meters, and finalizing meter connection orders.

PITC has been assigned the responsibility of examining the pending cases and updating its billing systems and software to allow eligible connections to be incorporated into the system without undue delay. The Power Division has also instructed distribution companies to confirm payments and other records to pinpoint authentic pending applications.

The procedure encompasses relevant cases involving distribution companies and K-Electric. The government's aim is to ensure that consumers who adhered to the necessary process before the February 9 deadline are not unduly delayed, while only legitimate cases are approved.
