Shinkafi backs Yari, vows to continue APC primary legal battle

Dr Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, a senatorial aspirant for Zamfara North in the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket, has pledged his support for Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari. This comes after Yari was appointed as the Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council. Shinkafi made this announcement at a gathering where his supporters from the Wamban Shinkafi Democratic Front showed their backing for Yari.

He stated that he and his supporters would stand by Yari until President Bola Ahmed Tinubu wins the 2027 presidential election. Shinkafi appealed to APC members to unite and support Yari, asserting that political disagreements should not hinder the party's success in the 2027 election. However, Shinkafi clarified that his endorsement of Yari would not impede his ongoing legal challenge against the APC primary election in Zamfara North.

He had taken the matter to the Federal High Court, claiming the candidate was imposed upon him and his democratic rights were violated during the electoral process. Shinkafi asserted that the evidence against this claim was strong and plans to take the case to higher courts if necessary. He urged his coordinators in Zamfara North to start preparations for the senatorial campaign committee in anticipation of the campaign activities.
