Sheinbaum puts out more fires in the Morena party: Tuesday’s mañanera recapped

President Claudia Sheinbaum reiterated her stance on arrests and extraditions in Mexico, emphasizing that no one can be arrested or extradited without evidence proving they committed a crime. This statement came after Sinaloa Governor Rubén Rocha Moya requested leave again due to U.S. drug trafficking accusations. Sheinbaum also expressed her belief that other accused officials in office should step aside during ongoing investigations, stressing that individuals must make their own decisions.

As the interim governor of Sinaloa, Graciela Domínguez, a Morena deputy and former education minister, was designated by the state Congress. Although Sheinbaum didn't know Domínguez well, she called her an "honest woman" who has long fought for social justice. Sheinbaum clarified that the decision to appoint Domínguez as interim governor is made by the Sinaloa Congress, not the president.

The controversy involving Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama has resurfaced with a report alleging she took 97 private plane flights while in office. Sheinbaum asked Lezama to clarify the details, noting that it's up to her to explain the situation. Lezama denied the allegations, stating she never used public funds for the flights.
