Pemimpin Kedah, Sanusi Nor, expressed disapproval of Ramkarpal Singh for giving a speech to Muslims urging them not to gamble. Sanusi intends to invite Singh to address Muslims on avoiding gambling. Despite Ramkarpal's earlier criticism of Sanusi focusing on preventing Muslims from gambling rather than banning it, Sanusi insists that efforts to ban gambling in Kedah will persist regardless of the Federal Court's decision.

Singh claimed that some have warned against his efforts to ban gambling in Kedah. "Indeed, call him a campaigner later. DAP will advise Muslims not to gamble," he said during a break in the discussion on the 'hindrance of banning gambling in Kedah'. On August 12, the Federal Court rejected Kedah's appeal to rescind the state government's decision to refuse renewing the license for the state's gambling and lottery regulator.

Sanusi stated that the decision to allow or deny gambling activities in Kedah now lies with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the Minister of Finance. He added that if Anwar approves gambling activities, Kedah's people will be angry with the Prime Minister. "Therefore, the ball is in the hands of the Finance Minister," he said.

Meanwhile, PAS Central's Chairman of the Legal and Human Rights Committee, Wan Rohimi Wan Daud, claims that efforts to challenge Perlis' order to stop and close gambling premises are ongoing. He alleges that a group has already filed a petition to challenge this action. "What happened in Kedah may spread to Perlis in the future as I heard that in Perlis, a new complaint has been filed against the gambling group."

Kedah's Chief Minister, Abu Bakar Hamzah, stated in June that his administration is committed to continuing efforts to eradicate gambling activities by maintaining the closure of gambling shops, which began under the previous Chief Minister, Mohd Shukri Ramli from PAS. Since last March, Perlis has restricted and closed gambling premises following the closure of the last number drawing terminal in Padang Besar at the beginning of March.
