RM17.5m road upgrades in Sepang ahead of F1

SEPANG: In preparation for the Formula 1 (F1) Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit in October, a sum of RM17.5 million has been allocated for road infrastructure upgrades across the district. According to Sepang MP Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu, RM16 million of this allocation is designated for key routes such as FT26, FT27, and FT29.

An additional RM1.5 million is earmarked for B48, which is heavily utilized by heavy vehicles. The upgrades are expected to be completed by mid-September to guarantee smooth traffic flow during the event. The improvements aim to enhance road safety and infrastructure quality in the area, with the allocation secured through the Works Ministry.

Aiman Athirah, who is also Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister, emphasized the ongoing efforts to address complaints about poor road lighting and malfunctioning street lights, particularly in areas like Cyberjaya. She highlighted that several projects, including Phase Two of the B48 upgrading works, are still ongoing, and the Sepang Public Works Department is leading the upgrading works.

Aiman Athirah personally inspects the quality of the work, including the thickness of the road surfacing, to ensure the upgrades are long-lasting and not merely temporary solutions.
