Revanth slams Centre over denial of nod for US tour

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has harshly criticized the central government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for denying him permission to visit the United States. Reddy, who recently returned from a trip to London, stated that his US tour was intended to attract investments and foster ties with universities and institutions in the education and sports sectors through his "Telangana Rising 2047" vision.

He alleged that the BJP-led Union government's decision was politically motivated and aimed at stifling investments in Telangana, diverting them to Gujarat instead. Reddy argued that denying his US visit was an insult not only to him personally but to the 40 million people of Telangana. He maintained that the entire itinerary for his foreign tour, including meetings with prominent universities and potential investors, was submitted to the External Affairs Ministry, which informed him that permission for the US visit was denied for political reasons.

In contrast, the Gujarat Chief Minister was granted permission to visit the US from August 17 to 28 under the "Vibrant Gujarat" mission. Reddy accused the BJP-led central government of displaying an "anti-Telangana" attitude and alleged that Gujarat was conspiring to obstruct Telangana's development by blocking investments. Despite the denial, Reddy is determined to pursue his investment goals in Telangana and announced plans for an investment summit in December.

He also vowed to raise the issue in Parliament and criticized BJP leaders for allegedly supplying misleading information about his US visit to the Center.
