'Real honour' - Dillon makes SPFL history

Former Dundee United defender Sean Dillon has broken a new record in Scottish football by becoming the oldest outfield player in the SPFL era. At 43 years and 16 days old, Dillon made his mark with an appearance off the bench for League One side Montrose during their 3-0 defeat against Alloa on August 15th. The accomplished player, who also serves as a coach at Links Park, expressed his delight at the achievement, stating that it was a "real honour."

Dillon revealed that he had always joked about continuing his playing career until the age of 40, but has since surpassed those expectations. He attributes his longevity in the sport to discipline, hard work, and a positive attitude. Dillon expressed his gratitude for his time in Scottish football, particularly in the SPFL, where he has found a good fit and enjoyed his experience immensely.

While acknowledging that his playing time in the future may not be as regular as it once was, he remains committed to continuing his involvement in the sport as long as he enjoys it and has not set a specific retirement date yet.
