Rawalpindi police chief rules out suicide in Hina Javaid’s death

RAWALPINDI: Regional Police Officer Babar Sarfraz Alpa has dismissed speculation that Hina Javaid’s death was a suicide, insisting it was a murder. He informed that her husband, a domestic servant, and the victim's father-in-law are currently in police custody, with the father-in-law under investigation. The RPO clarified that initially, the death was reported as a suicide, but post-mortem examination disproved this claim.

The investigation into the case is still in its early stages, and the RPO stated that as evidence emerges, the individuals involved will be identified and held accountable. Asghar Ali Fayyaz, the victim's father-in-law, reported the incident to the police on August 20 at 6 am, stating that thieves had broken into his house on Faisal Alvi Road.

Upon their arrival at the scene, the body of Ms. Javaid was found in the bathroom, tied to the shower with her hands bound behind her back. The RPO mentioned that Faisal Asghar Imam, the victim's husband, Fahad Javed, the victim's brother, domestic servant Zeeshan, and an unidentified person were named in the FIR. The investigation is being carried out from multiple angles, with a special team led by the SSP investigations forming part of the effort.

They are utilizing both technical and human intelligence to gather information. The servant was instrumental in revealing that a dispute between Faisal and Hina on the night of the incident led to her torture, after which she was strangled and then placed in the bathroom to suggest suicide.
