According to prosecutors in Milwaukee, Elon Musk will not face election bribery charges in Wisconsin for his promise to give $1 million to voters in the 2025 Wisconsin Supreme Court election. Musk, the founder of SpaceX and Tesla, was deeply involved in efforts to flip control of the highest court in the battleground state. However, the candidate backed by Republicans and Musk lost to Democratic-supported Susan Crawford, who preserved the court's liberal majority.

The bipartisan Wisconsin Elections Commission referred two complaints to the Brown County district attorney's office for possible charges, alleging Musk may have broken the law. The case was later assigned to La Crosse County District Attorney Tim Gruenke due to a conflict of interest. At the center of the controversy was a social media post Musk made days before the election, stating he would hold an event in Green Bay open only to voters.

Musk initially offered to hand over two checks for a million dollars each to those attending the event. Shortly after, he revised the post to say attendance would be limited to those who signed a petition he was circulating against activist judges, with the money going to supporters of the petition. District Attorney Gruenke announced on Tuesday that he believes a jury could not find Musk made a bribe with his posts.
