‘Puteri Gunung Ledang The Musical’ sells out in two hours, 22,000 still in queue

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 - The 2026 revival of Puteri Gunung Ledang The Musical has sold out within two hours of going on sale, leaving over 22,000 people still sitting in queue online. This overwhelming response occurs nearly two decades after the original production first took the stage. Director Tiara Jacquelina, who co-created the original, expressed deep gratitude for the public's response, stating that it is a moving testament to Malaysians' love for the story and a new generation's desire to discover it.

She emphasized the significance of the response for Malaysian theatre and the performing arts industry, highlighting the ongoing public interest in local stories, homegrown performers, and original productions. The 2026 rendition will be staged at the Jeffrey Cheah Performing Arts Centre (JCPAC) at Sunway Square from October 31 to November 15.

Tiara acknowledged that the sell-out has raised the bar for the Enfiniti creative team, who are now focusing on delivering a show that goes beyond audience expectations. While there have been discussions about extending the production to other parts of Malaysia, no additional performances have been confirmed, as the team remains focused on providing an extraordinary show for the upcoming season.
