Preview: Bundesliga kick-off in Berlin

The 2026/27 Bundesliga season is fast approaching, and Eintracht Frankfurt is set to kick off their league campaign away to 1. FC Union Berlin. Eintracht secured their first competitive win of the season, 11-0, against fifth-tier side SC St. Tönis, propelling them into the second round of the DFB-Pokal. Head coach Adi Hütter's men are eager to focus on Union Berlin, with Can Uzun expressing excitement and confidence ahead of their first Bundesliga match of the new season.

The game will take place at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei on Saturday afternoon (15:30 CEST). Eintracht, embarking on their 58th top-flight campaign, finished last season in eighth place with 44 points. Union Berlin, on the other hand, ended the 2025/26 season in 11th place with 39 points. Historically, Eintracht has fared well against Union Berlin, securing two 1-1 draws and a 3-0 victory in their last three encounters.

However, the Eagles have not managed to win the game since November 2023. Both teams will be spearheaded by new coaches: Hütter leads Eintracht, while Swiss tactician Mauro Lustrinelli takes charge at Union Berlin. Uzun expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "Bring on the Bundesliga, I can't wait."
