Police say Pasir Mas crash kills elderly woman and granddaughter, third victim hospitalised with injuries

KOTA BHARU, Aug 25 — A tragic accident near Pasir Mas claimed the lives of an elderly woman and her granddaughter, leaving a third victim hospitalized with severe injuries. The 73-year-old woman, who was in the rear seat at the time, succumbed to her injuries at the scene, while her 23-year-old granddaughter met with a fatal end while receiving treatment at Pasir Mas Hospital.

The third victim, an 18-year-old granddaughter of the deceased, suffered a fractured wrist and internal injuries and is currently being treated at the same hospital for further care. The incident occurred at around 11:20 am yesterday on Jalan Pasir Mas-Rantau Panjang near Culvert 5, when the Perodua Axia veered off the road and collided with a tree.

The district police chief, ACP Mazlan Hassan, stated that the three victims were all women from the same family, traveling from Pasir Mas towards Rantau Panjang. He added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
