Goyal emphasized that India offers a compelling destination for data centres, backed by significant commitments from global tech giants, including Google with USD 15 billion, Microsoft with USD 17.5 billion, Amazon with USD 35 billion, and Digital Connexion with USD 11 billion invested in AI infrastructure, including data centres.
The Indian government aims to further boost investments in the sector with a tax holiday until 2047. Goyal also discussed India's strengths in AI, semiconductors, and related ecosystems, where a USD 150 billion market exists. During a separate event addressing the Indian community in Japan, Goyal noted the country's demand for caregivers, nurses, plumbers, electricians, masons, carpenters, drivers, and skilled professionals like AI specialists, PhDs, engineers, and chartered accountants.
He encouraged the community to learn Japanese for better opportunities, stating that remittances from Japan to India contribute to India's growth.
