Peacock sends Bel-Air to New York in Hilary spin-off

Peacock is bringing Hilary to New York for a fresh spin-off. The show, titled Hilary, will star Coco Jones, who previously portrayed Hilary, Will's influencer cousin, in the modern-day reboot of the iconic 1990s sitcom. Just like many spin-offs before it, Hilary will move to a new city for fresh adventures. In this case, the character receives a job offer from celebrity chef Yvonne Durand in the Big Apple and bids farewell to her Westside castle in Los Angeles.

Interestingly, the spin-off picks up right where the original Fresh Prince series concluded, as Hilary (played by Karyn Parsons) left for New York in the show's final episode, where she opened a Beverly Hills cafe that proved to be a questionable investment. Series creator Tracy Oliver has been busy in the streaming world since the 2020s, having created BET+'s First Wives Club and Harlem, the latter of which became the first Black woman's film to gross over $100 million at the box office in 2017.

She also penned the hit comedies Little, featuring Regina Hall and Issa Rae, and The Sun Is Also A Star, a YA romance. Currently, Oliver is reportedly still contracted for a Girls Trip sequel, although it has not materialized yet. In 2023, while promoting Harlem, Oliver expressed excitement about the project, stating they were "looking to set it in Ghana," but earlier this year, Tiffany Haddish starred in a reality series, Tiffany Haddish Goes Off, where she and her childhood friends took a trip to Africa, leaving Ghana unexplored for future Girls Trip installments.
