Patrick Mahomes on his pregame routine regardless of playing status

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes shared his weekly preparation routine with reporters on Tuesday, regardless of whether he will play in the preseason game. "It’s just preparing just like a game week every single week," said Mahomes. "This week, we’ve treated this more like a game week."

Mahomes adheres to the same process as any regular game week, taking notes, watching the same film analysts review, and treating every practice rep as crucial. The quarterback, who has appeared fully dressed for the first two preseason games without playing, warms up normally and leads the team onto the field. Despite not missing any other action, Mahomes remains committed to his preparation. "I haven’t had to miss anything other than the preseason games," he explained.

Last season, Mahomes threw for 22 touchdowns, 11 interceptions in 14 games, and rushed for 422 yards and five touchdowns before suffering a knee injury. As he hopes to play in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday Night Football, Mahomes continues to practice with the same intensity.
