Pakistan's interior minister reports major progress in talks with Iran

Pakistan and Iran have made significant progress in negotiations, according to Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The discussions centered around the US-Israeli war on Iran, a path to peace, and measures to prevent further escalation. The two nations also discussed reopening the Strait of Hormuz and expediting the termination of the conflict, as reported by a statement from the Pakistani military.

During the meeting between Pakistan's army chief Asim Munir and the Iranian leadership, Iran's President candidly shared his government's perspective. Naqvi highlighted the constructive nature of their exchange on the issues at hand during his post on X. However, the White House and State Department have not yet responded to requests for comment outside business hours.

Munir reportedly had a prior conversation with US President Donald Trump before his visit to Teheran. Last week, Trump had warned of economic consequences against any country providing lifelines to Iran as he seeks to isolate the country. In response, Iran vowed to shut down all oil exports from the Gulf.
