NM United, Seymore agree to part ways

New Mexico United has reached an agreement to separate from defender Will Seymore. The team announced on Monday that their paths would no longer intersect. This marks the third move United has made in the past two months. Prior to Seymore's departure, the club loaned midfielder Marlon Vargas to Union Omaha for the rest of the season on June 29.

Earlier this week, United added goalkeeper Andrew Pannenberg to their roster. Currently, New Mexico sits atop the Western Conference table with 34 points, despite sharing the points tally with Orange County SC and El Paso Locomotive FC. The team's position in the standings is secured due to tiebreakers. Should New Mexico United secure a win or a draw against Lexington SC, currently sitting at 9-7-4, they could claim sole possession of the top spot.

Seymore, 34, made 12 appearances throughout the regular season, USL Cup, and U.S. Open Cup, including seven starts this season. However, he has yet to feature in a significant match since New Mexico's 1-0 victory over Sacramento Republic FC on June 20. Seymore did substitute for United in an international friendly against Liga MX's Atlante FC on July 1.

This scenario represents a significant shift from Seymore's contributions during the 2025 season as United made a Western Conference final run. Seymore appeared in 29 out of United's 30 regular-season matches, starting in all four of the club's USL Cup games and one U.S. Open Cup fixture. He played only once in the playoffs, making an appearance as an 86th-minute substitute in a 2-0 win against San Antonio FC.

Throughout his four-plus seasons with New Mexico United, Seymore made 133 appearances across all competitions, netting four goals.
