Nikon Image Space, the dedicated cloud storage platform for Nikon photographers, is set to shut down on October 15. The company announced this move, citing changes in the market environment. Currently, Nikon Image Space offers 2GB of free storage, or 20GB for registered Nikon camera owners. After the shutdown date, only a bulk download tool will remain functional.

Nikon is offering photographers until April 15 to download their images using this tool. In response to the shutdown, Nikon will increase the free storage on its Nikon Imaging Cloud to 5GB. While this is less than the previously offered 20GB for registered camera owners, Nikon Imaging Cloud will also be used for firmware downloads and image recipes.

Nikon Imaging Cloud already provides 30 days of unlimited temporary storage. The company will also maintain its app's unlimited temporary storage feature for the next 30 days. Nikon's decision to discontinue Image Space aims to streamline its software offerings. However, the company's announcement did not specify the reasons behind the decision.
