Nigeria’s politics lacks standards -Arewa Consultative Forum

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has criticized Nigeria's politics for lacking standards, attributing the issue to citizens' unwillingness to demand accountability. Professor Tukur Mohammed Baba, the Publicity Secretary of the Forum, made these remarks during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday. He emphasized that despite any positive micro statistics, the governance of Nigeria over the past four years has had a negative impact on citizens.

Baba highlighted the lack of standards in Nigerian politics and laws, stating that they are always flexible. He pointed out that institutions, including the judiciary, are not functioning effectively. The ACF also noted that Nigerians filter through with fake credentials, which is a common practice in the country's political landscape.

The Forum's spokesperson emphasized that the Nigerian electorate is not a homogeneous group with shared interests, but rather divided into sections. The average person on the street is primarily concerned with the impact of good governance on their daily life, such as welfare, health, education, housing, and transportation. Baba concluded by stating that the qualifications of the person in power are less important to the average Nigerian than the actual impact of governance on their everyday life.
