Niger Mosque Attacks: 30 killed, over 60 abducted – Chairman Borgu LG, Abdullahi

Chairman of Borgu Local Government Area, Mohammed Nasir Abdullahi, has reported a devastating attack on mosques in four communities during Friday's prayers. At least 30 individuals were killed, while over 60 worshippers were kidnapped by suspected terrorists. The assailants reportedly rounded up the worshippers and transported them into the forest.

The deceased are among those who were abducted during the violent assaults on the mosques in the council. Abdullahi confirmed that the recovered bodies of the victims had been buried, while security forces were deployed to restore order. Several houses, including the residence of the District Head of Dekara, were set ablaze during the attacks.

The violence forced numerous residents to flee their homes, with some seeking refuge in New Bussa and others crossing the border into Benin Republic due to threats from the terrorists. The military presence has helped restore relative calm, though many residents remain too frightened to return. Security agencies have launched a joint operation to locate the attackers and secure the release of the abducted worshippers.

Residents have urged the authorities to intensify the operation and rescue those still held captive by the terrorists.
