NA Speaker inaugurate monsoon tree plantation campaign

Islamabad, 2026 - National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq kicked off the country's monsoon tree plantation campaign on Tuesday by planting an olive sapling at the Parliament House grounds. The ceremony was attended by members of Parliament, senior officials from the National Assembly Secretariat, and media representatives. Prior to planting the sapling, a special prayer was offered for the nation's progress, prosperity, and security.

Addressing the gathering, Speaker Sadiq highlighted the significance of tree plantation efforts in safeguarding the environment and ensuring a secure future for generations to come. He emphasized the necessity of promoting plantation activities to transform Pakistan into a greener, healthier, and more prosperous nation. The Speaker stressed that trees are crucial in combating the negative impacts of climate change and called upon parliamentarians and the public to actively participate in tree plantation campaigns.

Ayaz Sadiq also pointed out the economic potential of olive cultivation, noting that olive oil is among the finest edible oils and that Pakistan's climate is exceptionally suitable for growing olives. He added that promoting olive cultivation could help the nation achieve greater self-sufficiency in the edible oil sector.
