Ghanaian artist Mzbel has stirred controversy on social media following her assertion that she would entertain dating a 19-year-old if her present relationship ended. The 46-year-old musician, whose birth name is Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, made these remarks during an interview with media figure ZionFelix, discussing relationships, attraction, and age disparities.

She expressed that she finds no issue with the 27-year age gap and would entertain the idea of dating the young man if her current relationship ended. Mzbel clarified that while there is nothing wrong with the age gap, it depends on the person's behavior. She emphasized that she is currently in a relationship and does not engage in multiple relationships at once, and would only entertain a relationship with the 19-year-old if her present partner breaks up with her.

Her comments have sparked a debate online, with some questioning the suitability of a woman in her 40s expressing romantic interest in a 19-year-old. Some have also questioned the consistency of her comments with her previous song, '16 Years', which deals with the theme of sexual exploitation of minors by older men. Mzbel has previously shared her own experience of a 28-year age gap in her first serious relationship, which ultimately turned abusive.
