Music Review: Busta Rhymes and J Dilla’s ‘Dillagence II’ sees 2 giants of the genre together again

Twenty years after Detroit producer J Dilla's untimely death from lupus complications at the age of 32, hip-hop artist Busta Rhymes has released "Dillagence II," a collection of 19 tracks showcasing their iconic collaboration. The album brings together Dilla's unique, unconventional beats and Rhymes' signature flow. The phrase "Dilla Time" refers to Dilla's distinctive style of combining straightforward and uneven rhythms, which has significantly influenced contemporary music.

"Dillagence II" features notable appearances from Lil Wayne, Dilla's mother, Ma Dukes, and Rhymes' own children, CIE and Trillian. The album, while nostalgic in nature, does not strive to fit into any specific hip-hop trend, but rather successfully combines the classic and contemporary elements of the genre.
