Twelve US senators have called for a congressional hearing into the impact the war on Iran is having on military personnel, citing poor planning and management of the extended deployments. The letter, written by Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth, was addressed to committee chairman Roger Wicker, requesting a public hearing with Defense Department leadership to address the issues.

The senators highlighted the dwindling supplies and deteriorating conditions onboard naval ships and regional bases, accusing military leadership of systemic planning failures. They also emphasized that troops are suffering due to the administration's inability to end the war or ensure safe conditions for servicemembers, who lack adequate food, medication, or supplies.

The senators questioned the rationale behind enlisting in the military when one fears exploitation and a lack of support. They stressed that the longer the current administration fails to provide a plan to end this "disastrous war," the greater the price brave servicemembers will have to pay.
