Magic and tradition comes to Comares as they celebrate their Summer Feria for 2026

Comares, a picturesque mountain town in Axarquia, is gearing up to host its annual Summer Feria from August 27 to August 30, 2026. This four-day celebration will be filled with music, traditional contests, and rich culture. From Thursday evening, visitors can enjoy the harmonious sounds of five regional choirs performing together.

As night falls, flamenco sets will dominate the airwaves. During the day, children can revel in a dedicated park filled with inflatables and games, providing a safe and entertaining space away from the bustling evening crowds.

Friday’s festivities include a children’s king and queen pageant, a beloved local tradition where kids and teenagers showcase their community pride. The evening sees competitors engaging in a thrilling bicycle ribbon race through the town’s narrow streets, attempting to spear hanging silk rings. The evening’s entertainment combines nostalgia with lively performances, featuring the acclaimed violin-led group Panda de Verdiales de El Borge and the tribute band Legado, who will pay homage to El Barrio. DJ Toulalan rounds off the night with a vibrant set.

On Saturday, the day begins with the resounding fanfare of brass bands from Benamocarra, leading into a flamenco style choral mass in honor of the town’s patron saint, San Hilario de Poitiers. Later that afternoon, motorbike ribbon races add to the excitement. Saturday night features recording artist Nolasco, who will captivate the audience with his music.

The festivities conclude on Sunday with a poignant street procession featuring the image of San Hilario de Poitiers, processed through the town’s charming whitewashed alleys, marking the end of a week-long celebration of local traditions.
