King Abdulaziz University honors students for Silicon Valley festival wins

King Abdulaziz University has honored students who triumphed at the Silicon Valley International Festival of Invention and Innovation in the United States. President Dr. Tareef bin Yousef Al-Aama commended the students who earned the grand prize, two gold medals, and a silver medal at the prestigious event that brought together 500 inventors from 30 nations.

The grand prize-winning team consisted of four students from King Abdulaziz University and Tuwaiq Academy: Jihad Al-Juhani, Hassan Al-Zahrani, Al-Anoud Al-Qarzaai, and Doaa Farah. Their groundbreaking projects were recognized for their innovative solutions to real-world problems.

The trio of inventions earned awards for their unique contributions to their respective fields. The first invention, Solara, is a nanocoating designed to protect solar panels from dust, water, and temperature fluctuations. This innovative coating also helps cool solar panels, enhancing their efficiency and extending their lifespan.

The second invention, Hospitalink, is a device paired with a mobile application that streamlines the process of locating available hospital beds during emergencies. This tool significantly reduces transfer times and saves lives. The third invention, Draphene, is an eco-friendly method that utilizes date pits to produce graphene, a highly sought-after material with a multitude of applications.

By employing this innovative technique, Draphene reduces production costs, making graphene more accessible and sustainable.
