Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: A video of former Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has resurfaced, rekindling a remark he made while part of the Congress party. The clip features Scindia condemning the BJP for their role in soaring prices, uttering the phrase "Kha gaye shakkar, pee gaye tel, yahi hai BJP ka asli khel," which translates to "Ate sugar, drank oil — this is the BJP’s real game."

This quote has gained traction on social media as sugar costs continue to climb, prompting users to share Scindia's past statement amid the controversy.

In response to the increasing sugar prices, the Madhya Pradesh government is set to enforce a stock holding limit on bulk sugar consumers between September 1 and November 30. This measure aims to curb hoarding and maintain fair prices. The state government plans to issue a notification in the near future outlining the details of the restriction.

A senior official from the Food Department stated that the stock holding limit will be enforced in compliance with an order from the Central government. According to the Essential Commodities Act of 1955, stakeholders must adhere to the regulations set forth by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. Specifically, bulk consumers who utilize more than 10 metric tonnes of sugar per month for production, consumption, or other purposes may not retain sugar stocks for more than 15 days.

The state government's initiative to limit sugar stock comes as part of a broader effort to address the persistent issue of rising prices, particularly affecting essential commodities. As the nation grapples with the impact of inflation on daily life, this development underscores the government's commitment to ensure affordable and accessible goods for its citizens.
