Kembali ke parti bukan tiket automatik jadi calon, kata ketua PKR Wilayah Persekutuan

The former PKR leader Azman Abidin has stated that returning to the party is no automatic ticket to become a candidate in the upcoming election, highlighting President Anwar Ibrahim's open-mindedness in accepting those who have left the party. The decision on nominations remains under party process, ultimately made by the President and Central Leadership.

According to Azman, the nomination process does not differentiate between veteran leaders, old timers, newcomers, or the younger generation, as the ability to win a seat is a primary consideration. Former PKR stalwart Tian Chua has expressed a desire to return to Parliament and contest again in Batu. Despite being readmitted to PKR, Azman acknowledged that the final decision rests with the party leadership as part of their election strategy.

Tian Chua, who served as Batu's MP for two terms from 2008, was denied a seat in the 2018 general election after the Election Department rejected his nomination due to a RM2,000 fine. He then supported the independent candidate Prabakaran, who won the seat, and later joined the party. Azman noted that a leader's past record and achievements will be considered before any decision is made, emphasizing the importance of loyalty to the party, teamwork, and adherence to PKR's principles and ideals.

He also believes that a leader wishing to return to PKR does not do so solely for the chance to contest but realizes that the Anwar-led government must be preserved. Tian Chua's goal is to see the Prime Minister lead the nation in the next term based on Anwar's abilities and performance.
