Sanusi Audu, International Alert's programme manager, emphasized the training's emphasis on practical, case-based learning using real Sokoto-based materials. The organizers will also launch a Community of Practice for the participants and produce a conflict-sensitive reporting manual in English and Hausa, along with a pocket verification and narrative-framing checklist.
The Arewa Consultative Forum's Professor Tukur Muhammad Baba urged journalists to grasp the unique "conflict ecology" of each situation to avoid simplistic narratives and stereotyping.
