Infant food warehouse in Gaza destroyed by Israeli strike

An Israeli military strike on Monday night destroyed a warehouse in Gaza containing supplies intended for children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers, according to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP). The strike targeted a nearby building, damaging all the aid boxes inside the warehouse in Deir Al Balah. The warehouse belonged to MAP's partner, Ard El Insan.

The explosion caused significant damage, collapsing large sections of the building and burying the supplies beneath the rubble. As a result, the nutritional supplements and supplies, which were intended for malnourished children and pregnant women, became unsuitable for human consumption. MAP confirmed that the blast affected the entire stock, making it impossible for the organization to reach those in need.

Sahar Salem, MAP's project co-ordinator, described the destruction as a "major blow" that would undoubtedly impact the organization's ability to provide services to children and women. Despite the ongoing conflict, MAP remains committed to supporting those in need, emphasizing that children and mothers cannot wait for better conditions to continue their work.
