Another QS I-GAUGE report on AI adoption in higher education reveals that 80% of faculty members from 146 institutions across 27 states believe their institutions are ready for AI integration, but 78% fear overreliance could weaken students' independent thinking and problem-solving skills.
The voluntary surveys gathered responses from 1,209 teachers from 71 K-12 institutions in 21 states and Union Territories, and 1,118 faculty members from 146 higher education institutions in 27 states and UTs. While 88% of schoolteachers think their leadership views AI as essential for future-ready education and 86% say their schools are prepared to offer structured professional development, 25% of schools are at the structured-implementation stage, 25% are in an exploratory phase, and 13% have achieved advanced system-wide integration.
Faculty also indicated that hands-on training workshops (71% of respondents) and access to premium, enterprise-level AI tools (61% of respondents) are the top two resources they need for successful AI adoption.
