India tech engine seen powering expanding digital partnership with Qatar

India and Qatar are deepening their digital partnership by harnessing emerging technologies and startup mobility to foster economic diversification. The shared vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Qatar National Vision 2030 aligns with this approach, focusing on responsible use of technologies like AI and blockchain. Chargé d'Affaires Sandeep Kumar of the Indian embassy emphasized digital public infrastructure, AI, and private sector innovation as key drivers of bilateral cooperation.

India's active participation in Web Summit Qatar has facilitated connectivity between Indian tech firms and regional investors. The 2025 edition of the event will feature a Qatari country pavilion, allowing Indian start-ups to showcase their offerings. The embassy has also established connections with Qatari research and technology entities, including the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Qatar Science & Technology Park, and the QRDI Council.

Frameworks such as the India-Qatar Startup Bridge initiative, launched in 2022, continue to support corporate and startup collaborations. India's youth demographic, with 65% under 35, provides a demographic advantage in deep-tech industries. A notable example is Agnikul Cosmos, a space startup that demonstrated advanced manufacturing capabilities with its Agnibaan SOrTeD rocket, developed by a team with an average age of 28.

Kumar highlighted potential collaboration areas, including advanced manufacturing, digital innovation, semiconductor manufacturing, logistics, food security, and infrastructure. Both nations must prioritize responsible technology adoption to strengthen their partnership.
