IMSA, Road America push 2027 endurance round back one week

IMSA and Road America officials have announced a schedule change for the 2027 Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix, pushing the four-day event back one week to August 5–8, 2027. The decision aims to lessen congestion during a busy Midwestern summer schedule and give spectators more flexibility in planning their attendance. Road America President and General Manager Mike Kertscher explained that the new August dates reduce overlap with other major events in Wisconsin during one of the busiest parts of summer.

By announcing the dates ahead of time, he said, it provides everyone more time to adjust their schedules. The event will once again bring IMSA's premier sports car racing series to the historic four-mile road course. The highlight will be the six-hour Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix, a crucial part of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the five-race IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.

Fans can expect open paddock access, fan activations, and a variety of support races alongside the main championship. IMSA President John Doonan highlighted the venue's growing fan turnout in recent years, noting that the record-breaking attendance at the first six-hour endurance race this month has already been surpassed. He expressed enthusiasm about returning to Road America later in the year and is confident that giving fans ample time to make or adjust their plans will result in another fantastic turnout for the Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix in 2027.

Tickets that have already been purchased at the advance rate of $140 will be automatically applied to the updated August dates. Venue officials emphasized that the advance four-day pricing tier will remain available for a limited time, and current order holders seeking assistance are urged to contact the Road America ticket office.
