Imran hospital transfer case: PTI’s contempt plea assigned number after objections removed

The Supreme Court allowed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party’s contempt of court petition to be refiled following the removal of procedural objections by the registrar office, according to Aaj News. The petition, filed by Imran Khan’s sister Uzma Khan, has been registered under Case No. 8/2026. The registrar office had previously rejected the petition, citing concerns that the alleged contemnors had not been provided with a list of allegations.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan informed media that the registrar had objected to the petition over the alleged lack of allegations list and that the party would refile the petition after addressing the objections. The Supreme Court had ordered Imran Khan’s transfer from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to Shifa International Hospital for a medical examination on August 18, but authorities had transferred him to PIMS citing security concerns.

The PTI maintains that the court’s directions should have been fully implemented, while the government defended the decision citing security concerns. Information Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar stated that the transfer was taken due to security considerations, including concerns about the route to Shifa International Hospital and the presence of PTI supporters outside the facility.

The government also rejected allegations of medical negligence or inhumane treatment of Imran Khan, stating he has access to legal and medical facilities and has been examined by multiple medical boards. Uzma Khan has expressed her brother’s improved physical condition, while raising concerns about his living conditions in jail. The PTI vowed to continue its legal battle over the matter.
