‘Here to win’: Xavi vows to restore pride in Dutch football

Former Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has pledged to restore pride in Dutch football by returning the nation's attacking style of play. The 46-year-old former midfielder, who replaces Ronald Koeman as Oranje's coach on a four-year deal, vowed that playing good football - taking initiative, dominating games and playing offensively - will lead to better results.

Xavi, who led Spain to the 2010 World Cup title, told reporters that both attractive football and results matter to him, insisting that the team is "here to win." He acknowledged the Netherlands' disappointing World Cup performances, including their last-32 exit to Morocco, and expressed his desire to play good football to bring the team back to winning ways.

Xavi, who won four Champions Leagues during his playing career, emphasized that passion, ambition and desire are crucial for the team's success. His first match as coach will be a home Nations League game against Germany on September 24, with Jurgen Klopp - another national management newcomer - set to provide the opposition.
