Heat rookie Ryan Conwell throws out first pitch for Miami Marlins

Miami Heat prospect Ryan Conwell tossed the ceremonial opening pitch for the Marlins, kicking off a three-game series at home against the Boston Red Sox on Monday. Donning a custom-made jersey with his name on the back, Conwell took to the mound in the dugout at loanDepot park, where he delivered the pitch to outfielder Griffin Conine, who caught it behind home plate.

The pair then posed for a photograph. The Heat, who selected Conwell with the 37th overall pick, saw a competitive match-up between the two teams, as the Red Sox (72-59) secured a 4-2 victory after scoring two runs in the top of the ninth inning. Ryan Conwell, who was named to the All-ACC second team during his sophomore season at Louisville, averaged 18.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.1 steals during the 2022 season.

He ranked 13th in the nation in three-point accuracy (34.5%) and fifth in the conference in total scoring. The 22-year-old made four appearances in the Heat's summer league, averaging 20.5 points, four rebounds, and 3.2 assists while hitting 41.7% from the field. He scored 16 or more points in each of those games, including a 26-point performance on July 6.

With the signing of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Klay Thompson this offseason, the team is optimistic about Conwell's potential and eager to see him make significant contributions to the Heat next season.
