Health inspectors ban webshop from selling weight loss drugs

Health inspectors have prohibited a website from selling unlicensed weight loss drugs advertised on social media. The De Peptidekoning site sold semaglutide, tirzepatide, and retatrutide, an unlicensed experimental drug. The Health and Youth Care Inspectorate ordered the website to cease selling the substances and cautioned patients against the risks of experimental treatments.

De Peptidekoning, operating through multiple websites including puritybase.com, lacked a license to sell the medicines, failing to ensure quality, safety, and effectiveness. The black market for slimming treatments, particularly Ozempic, poses health risks, according to the Dutch Institute for the Rational Use of Medicine. Manufacturers like Eli Lilly warn against purchasing unapproved drugs online, emphasizing the unknown risks.
