GES investigates alleged sexual misconduct involving Mim SHS security officer

The Ghana Education Service (GES) in Ghana's Ahafo Region has launched an investigation into an alleged sexual misconduct incident at Mim Senior High School. The alleged incident involves a security officer and a female student, with claims that the officer proposed engaging in sexual activity with the student. The situation has sparked outrage in the community, leading to an alleged physical altercation with the security officer.

The GES has commenced its inquiry to ascertain the truth behind the incident and decide on appropriate actions. The Asunafo North Municipal Director of GES, Samuel Jatong Larri, confirmed that both the security officer and the student have been interviewed as part of the investigation. The student was questioned in the presence of her parents, while the security officer was also given an opportunity to recount his side of the story.

Mr. Larri emphasized the priority the Service places on protecting the student, especially considering the potential psychological impact the incident may have on her. The investigation will focus on determining the truth of the allegations and ensure the emotional well-being of the student.
