Gemini in Chrome Adds Select from Screen for Faster Image and Page Analysis

Google has added a new feature to Gemini in Chrome called Select from screen. This feature allows users to send a selected portion of a web page directly to Gemini for analysis or action, bypassing the need to describe the entire page. The feature can be used to select text, images, or a combination of both from a web page, providing a more precise way to supply context for AI assistance.

Users simply open the Gemini side panel in Chrome, choose Select from screen, and draw around the relevant content. The selected area is then sent to Gemini as the basis for further interaction. The key benefit of this feature is that it allows users to provide context for AI analysis without having to manually describe the entire page.

For example, a marketing manager could select an image and the associated text to analyze a product image, or a support employee could share a relevant portion of a web interface when seeking help.
