Fisherman jailed three months for causing harm at Teshie

A 22-year-old fisherman, Godwin Tetteh, has been sentenced to three months in prison for causing harm during traditional rites at Teshie, Accra. Charged with causing harm, Tetteh pleaded guilty before an Accra Circuit Court, leading to his conviction and sentencing. The victim, Christopher Tetteh, a driver and resident of Teshie, was stabbed by Tetteh on June 12, 2026, during an altercation.

According to Chief Inspector Wisdom Alorwu, the prosecution's lead, the incident began when the complainant went to pray at a mosque and returned home. Tetteh confronted him about traditional rites performed for his daughter without his consent, which angered the convict. Tetteh then punched the complainant twice in the mouth and stabbed him in the left arm, back, and head with a pair of scissors, causing injuries.

When the convict tried to escape, the complainant smashed him in the mouth, leading to his arrest at a police station in connection with another offense. The complainant identified Tetteh, who admitted to the offence in his caution statement.
